Assessing the Ergonomic Design of a New Back Table for Perioperative Nurses

Operating Rooms can be complex and stressful, wherein personnel are required to perform a variety of physically demanding tasks. Among the nursing care, perioperative nurses more susceptible musculoskeletal discomfort in low-back, shoulder neck as they an extensive number tasks before, during after surgery on “back table”. To improve performance mitigate risk injury nurses, new ergonomic design back table has been developed recently. The purpose this study was assess efficiency improving reducing their comparison with traditional table. involved 8 participants (4 Male, 4 Female) who performed simulated lifting/holding/lowering both tables finding instruments, similar actual work done by nurses. Our results showed that using table, moment reduced 12%, while based NASA-TLX scale, mental demand (14%), physical (20%), frustration (12%), effort (18%), (15%) all values. outcomes may facilitate reduction healthcare domain also beneficial tables, not only operating rooms but industrial environments.
